Carly & John's Wedding in Middleburg, Virginia

Carly and John tied the knot under a giant oak tree at the Salamander resort in Middleburg, Virgina with the help of the style expert & wedding planner, Anne Book. We used the oak tree as a design motif throughout the paper goods with a navy and coral color scheme. We worked with the talented calligrapher Stacey Shapiro for the script elements of the design. They had a beautiful day and beyond gorgeous photos by Patricia Lyons!

Paige & Luke's Classic Spring Wedding

Paige and Luke were married last month in Paige's home town of Lake Forest, Illinois. The ceremony was at Christ Church Lake Forest and the reception following at Exmoor Country Club. We set the tone for their classic wedding day with the soft gold monogrammed invitations. Their couple's monogram, P&L, was centered at the top of the invitations and it was continued throughout the wedding decor for a consistent look! Paige thought of everything from custom cups for the dance floor, koozies for the trolley and getting ready in the morning to the seating chart, cocktail napkins and even the chocolate favors (by Mayana Chocolate) where all branded with P&L monogram we designed! Claire and Max's Woodland Winter Wedding

This past December, Claire and Max's tied the knot on a warm winter day in Glenview. We incorporated extra special elements into the invitations like a custom motif, wedding map and the calligraphy by Joi Hunt of Bien Fait Calligraphy with white ink - my personal favorite! I worked with Claire to created a custom watercolor motif - a bow of woodland branches, greenery and pine cones that was reflected throughout their wedding day from the save the dates and the invitations to the menus, programs, napkins, place cards, and escort cards that even tied into the floral by Event Creative.

Claire carried the classically elegant style across every aspect of her wedding day and looked absolutely darling in her Monique Lhuillier two piece wedding dress and her veil made from her mother's wedding dress - for her something borrowed! The bridesmaids picked their own designer and style in black for the bridesmaid dresses from Bella Bridesmaid, such a nice way to make sure all bridesmaids are comfortable and happy in their dresses. Olivia Leigh Photographie did a beautiful job capturing the day, I selected some of the highlights to share with you below!

Caroline and Paul's French Country Wedding

Caroline and Paul's french country themed wedding was complete with toile pattern, rustic wooden accents and authentic french cuisine! We designed the invitations with a toile patterned pocket to match the table linens. For the icons and couples monogram we paired vintage looking fonts and engraved style illustration style to tie the look together. Caroline thought of every detail from custom menus with "bon appétit" paper flags attached with wooden pins and topped with a sprig of rosemary and "merci" favor tags to the custom signature cocktail signs we designed in a chalkboard style. For the welcome bags, Caroline and Paul wrote a personal message to out of town guests and things to do in the area and included their favorite Chicago goodies and branded water bottles all in a burlap tote. Allison and Mike's Amelia Island Wedding

This past September, Allison and Mike tied the knot in beautiful Amelia Island, Florida. Allison and I designed on their custom paper goods with a whimsy organic watercolor leaf design inspired by the magnolia leaves she incorporated into the flowers by Liz Stewart Floral Design. We asked calligrapher Joi Hunt to create a custom hand letting style to complement the relaxed elegance feel of Allison's wedding. Joi created the lettering style called "Allison" just for this invitation suite for a truly custom look! Allison and Mike looked completely happy in the gorgeous beach front photos by Flora + Fauna.

Elizabeth & Kevin's Christmas Wedding

Last Christmas, I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth on her gorgeous classic Christmas wedding and this Christmas it was featured on Inside Weddings! I worked with Elizabeth to design a custom watercolor wreath that we used across all of the paper goods from the save the dates and welcome bags to the day of details like the menus and cocktail napkins. For the out of town guests, we designed an invitation packet for a welcome party as well as a farewell brunch. The packet was complete with a custom illustrated map with things to do in Chicago all tucked into a hunter green pocket with a tartan ribbon wrap. We included a nod to the bride's childhood with ice skating at Millennium Park as one of the suggested activities. We accented the watercolor wreath design with the "Ross" tartan envelope liner, the bride's family tartan!

A personalized guest tag was tied with a tartan ribbon onto the custom canvas welcome bags. Each bag included a welcome note with the wedding itinerary, things to do and the illustrated map, wrapped water bottles, custom koozies with 312 beer, Wrigley gum, Italian chocolates {in honor of where Elizabeth & Kevin were engaged} and darling sugar cookies handmade by Caitlin of CB Custom Bakeshop!

For the wedding reception menu, we created a circle die cut card with the wreath watercolor which was placed under a clear beaded charger from Hall's at each guest's place setting. The table numbers were tented cards where Stacey Shapiro calligraphed each table number in the center of the printed watercolor wreath design for an extra custom look!

Catherine & Andrew's Wedding

When Andrew and I got engaged over a year ago, we didn’t realize what a whirlwind wedding planning can be. What we did know was that we both had more classic personal styles and we wanted to honor certain family traditions. The first decisions we made were the venue and the date. Choosing Glen View Club as the venue brought in our first major element of tradition. Not only did many of my fondest family memories take place there, but it has also been the reception venue for much of my family including my parents on August 8, 1981, almost 34 years to date of our wedding. Also, Andrew’s parent’s wedding on August 2, 1980, was just a day short of 35 years before our wedding. For the ceremony at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, we were lucky enough to have Andrew’s cousin, Father Steve Wilbricht, who has celebrated all of the Sullivan weddings come in from Massachusetts to officiate for us. He did such a fabulous job incorporating personal touches and making me feel like a part of the Sullivan family.

We based the symbol for our wedding in the same sense of tradition. I created a watercolor crest based on the Fitzpatrick and Sullivan Irish family crests so that we could use it as a motif throughout the wedding. For the invitations, we did a classic centered layout with the crest at the top. It had light Wedgwood blue border with a pocket on the back to hold all of the stacked cards for the map, reception, welcome party, rehearsal dinner and response cards. I designed all elements of the paper goods in a watercolor style. My favorite was the watercolor map with drawings of all event locations. We used those drawings on the reception card, welcome bags and on the programs too! We incorporated Joi Hunt's calligraphy for all of the script on the invitations and programs and Jessica Munoz's calligraphy for the wedding reception and gifts. They both did an amazing job!

We had shades of Wedgwood blue along with natural green and white tones and a sprig of lavender in my bouquet, an Irish wedding good luck charm. The menus were large scalloped circles that also served as chargers. The escort boards were custom designed to fit perfectly within the arched bookshelves on either side of the dining room doors at Glen View Club.  The bridesmaids "getting ready" robes were made from a design that incorporated our watercolor crest and florals from our invitations.

There were subtle hints of vintage touches in all aspects of the day; from the antique heart slide bracelet my grandmother gave to my mom on my parent's wedding day, to the vintage postage stamps and the antique blue china rented from Vintage Place Settings. With a nod to the Old English rhyme, "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue and a Sixpence in your Shoe;" our ring pillow was made from vintage handkerchiefs that were Andrew's and my grandmother's (something old), my dress (something new), the antique heart slide bracelet from my mom (something borrowed), the bridesmaids' dresses (something blue), and the sixpence for my shoe from my mom, as a traditional wedding good luck charm!

For the ceremony, the bridesmaids wore Jcrew blue lace dresses and the groomsmen, Andrew and our dads wore Jcrew chambray bow ties. My dress was originally something I picked out at a bridal shop, but it arrived the wrong color, didn't fit and the lace detail was way too large, beyond alterations! After my mom and I recovered from the initial shock, we decided our only option was to have it custom made as it was 3 weeks before the wedding. The amazingly talented custom dress designer, Donna, whipped together my dress that was inspired from my mother's wedding dress.

The week of the wedding, my dad had complications from open heart surgery that he had earlier this year and it quickly began clear that there was a good chance he was not going to be able to attend the wedding. The Friday of the wedding we were still were not sure if he was going to be able to leave the hospital until he was released just in time for the rehearsal. Andrew and I were meeting with The McCartneys, our photographers, scoping out photo locations on the golf course and my dad came driving up in a golf cart looking better than ever - it was such a happy memory for me! It meant everything to me and Andrew that he could be there to walk me down the aisle. I couldn't even think about doing it without him!

Andrew and I lucked out with beautiful weather on August 1st and couldn't be happier newlyweds. I am so thankful that all of our family was able to be there and feel so blessed that everything worked out in the end and I will cherish these photos for years to come.
